Heart Beat

So yesterday we had an OB appointment. This was our second one. Dan came, I told him I think husbands are supposed to go, right? Anyway, we got to listen to the heartbeat. It took what seemed like a few minutes to find it, although I am sure it was less than 30 seconds...my midwife said, "don't worry, the baby is really small so sometimes they are hard to find." Well hurry up, please! She found it and our baby's heart is beating within the normal range of 120-160 :) She did tell us what it was exactly but I can't remember...does that make me a bad mom? I had a couple ladies ask me what the heart rate was and I felt guilty that I could only say, somewhere between 120 and 160. Still feels a little surreal, out of body, are WE really having a baby? I've had a couple pretty good days - sickness wise, just sick at night which is a good thing! Definitely looking forward to a better 2nd trimester when I actually re-start some sort of exercising! p.s NYC Marathon is this Sunday, and I secretly...or not so secretly couldn't be happier that I am not running! Good luck to my gymnastics amiga Sarah G, run like the wind!!

Ah, the heartbeat! The best sound in the world! I wouldn't be one of those ladies asking for a heart rate...I have no idea on any of my kids. Save your bad-mom guilt for another day - like after the kid is actually born.

Yay, hearing the heartbeat is always exciting! And I'm glad to hear your "morning" sickness is starting to taper off. Welcome to the best of them all--the second trimester!

That is exciting... and as long as the HB is within the safe, I don't think the little details matter:) PS how did you get into the NY marathon? I keep getting denied- any tips. TQM hermanita

You are entering such a fun stage of pregnancy. Congrats on making it through the worst...hopefully.
The heartbeat is the best music to a mother's ears, and don't worry about not remembering what it was. I have heard ours twice in the last month, but don't know what it was, I am just glad to be hearing it. And with our first two babies, Ben came to every single appointment. He doesn't anymore, but I think it is great when the husband can go.
I didn't know you did gymnastics? I did too! How long did you do it?

I bet that does feel surreal. And no, it doesn't make you a bad mom for not knowing the heart beat. :) Glad your sickness is subsiding.

i still can't believe I have a baby and he's 4 months old. It does feel good to know I've concurred my biggest fear (that I know of). People will say they know the sex of the baby when they know the heartbeat, that is total myth. And don't listen to the endless amount of advice people will give you, just ask when you want to know something. People feel the need to give too much advice! Hey where were you 11 years ago this very day?

YAY!! I didn't realize you were pregnant! How cool! So I'm a breastfeeding counselor now for WIC, so when that time comes and you have questions, you give me a call! And, you have to watch this really awesome documentary, "The Business of Being Born". Tell me what you think when you see it. I love you, love you, love you, Hermana Burger! REmember Irma in Chino? I think about her all the time? Anyway, peace and have a good pregnancy!
